Alessandro Napolitano

Of Counsel

Alessandro is a lawyer with extensive experience in banking law, insurance law, and corporate insolvency.

He graduated with full marks in Law from LUISS Guido Carli University and began his career in the banking sector, focusing on legal advisory and litigation.

After a period of collaboration with a leading international law firm, where he advised major international banking groups on M&A transactions, banking supervision, data protection, and anti-money laundering matters, he worked as General Counsel at SIC – Società Italiana Cauzioni S.p.A. In this role, he led the legal restructuring process of the Italian subsidiaries of the Atradius insurance group.

Subsequently, in 2007, he took on executive roles at SACE S.p.A., Italy’s export credit agency, first as Legal Director and later as Litigation and Contract Director. During his tenure at SACE, Alessandro developed in-depth expertise in export credit regulations and state aid issues. He was also part of the Italian Government’s delegation to the OECD Antibribery Group. In this capacity, Alessandro provided ongoing legal advice to the business units and later managed both corporate and sovereign litigation. He played an active role in crisis management and participated in negotiation tables for the restructuring of the financial exposures of major Italian companies, representing SACE S.p.A. as a preferential creditor in insolvency proceedings.

In addition to his professional activities, Alessandro was recently appointed Adjunct Faculty Member at LUISS Business School and regularly collaborates with both Sapienza University of Rome and the LUISS School of Law, teaching advanced corporate law courses.

He is author of several publications on banking and corporate law, including Volumes IV and V of the updated Commentario Ferro-Luzzi Castaldi “La nuova legge bancaria”, as well as a monograph on non-performing bank loans.

Alessandro is a regular speaker at international legal conferences, including the Symposium on Economic Crimes at the University of Cambridge, where he has been invited to speak on issues of corruption and white-collar crime since 2013.
